시119:67-72(고난의 유익)
시편은 다윗의 고난의 내용을 다루고 있다.
같은 고난이지만 내용이 다르다. 첫째 고난과 둘째 고난이 다르다.
첫 번째 고난
다윗이 블레셋 골리앗을 이기고 승리한 후에 당한 고난이었다.
사울왕이 블레셋 골리앗과 싸워 이긴자에게 상을 약속했다.
삼상17:25(그를 죽이는 사람은 왕이 많은 재물로 부하게 하고 그 딸을 그에게 주고 그 아비의 집을 이스라엘 중에서 자유하게 하시리라) - 천부장
골리앗의 키(여섯규빗 한뼘)=290cm /갑옷(놋 오천세겔- 57kg)
삼상18:7(7여인들이 뛰놀며 창화하여 가로되 사울의 죽인 자는 천천이요 다윗은 만만이로다 한지라 8사울이 이 말에 불쾌하여 심히 노하여)
1. 악신이 사울왕에게 임하여 창을 던져 다윗을 죽이려 함
2. 다윗이 사울왕의 둘째딸 미갈을 더 좋아하니 - 사울왕이 블레셋 사람의 양피(사람을 죽여 가죽을 벗겨옴)100개를 가져오라고 요구하였다.
3. 다윗이 20세 청년에 골리앗이 이겨 천부장,사울왕의 사위가 되었지만 10년간 사울왕을 피해 도망다니는 처지가 되었다.(도피생활17곳)
베드로전서 2:20(죄가 있어 매를 맞고 참으면 무슨 칭찬이 있으리요 오직 선을 행함으로 고난을 받고 참으면 이는 하나님 앞에 아름다우니라 이를 위하여 너희가 부르심을 입었으니 그리스도도 너희를 위하여 고난을 받으사 너희에게 본을 끼쳐 그 자취를 따라 오게 하려 하셨느니라)
두 번째 고난
다윗이 왕이 된후 암몬군대와 전쟁중에 있을 때
왕궁에서 어둔밤에 목욕하는 밧세바 여인을 보고 데려와 간음을 행한후 임신을 하게 했다. 밧세바의 남편은 전쟁터에서 암몬군대와 목숨걸고 싸우고 있는 군대대장 우리야 였다. 다윗은 자신의 간음죄를 덮으려고 우리야을 왕궁로 불러 음식과 술로 대접한 후에 집에 가서 아내를 만나도록 유도하였다.
우리야는 거절하고 예루살렘에 머물러 있었다.
다윗은 신하를 불러 전쟁터에 우리야를 적군에 의해 죽임을 당하도록 계획하고 우리야을 적직에서 죽임을 당했다.
1. 밧세바나 낳은 첫번째 아들이 난지 며칠이 못되어 죽었다
2. 자신의 장자 암논이 셋째아들 압살롬에 의해 살해당했다.
3. 자신을 대적하여 일어났던 셋째아들 압살롬이 자신이 가장 믿고 신뢰했던 부하장수 요압장군에 의해 죽임을 당했다.
4. 자신의 넷째아들로서 압살롬 다음으로 뛰어난 아도니야가 솔로몬이 보낸 브나야 장군에게 의해 칼로 죽임을 당했다.
두번째로,그가 지은 간음죄에 대한 형벌로서 그의 자식들이 근친상간의 간음을 저질렀다는 소식을 접해야 했다.
5. 자신의 장자 암몬이 배다른 셋째아들 압살롬의 여동생인 다말은 겁간하였다는 소식을 들어야 했다(한편 그 일 때문에 압살롬은 훗날 암논을 살해하고 만다).
6. 압살롬이 왕위를 찬탈한 후에 왕과는 원수지간인 것을 보여야 한다는 모사 아히도벨의 조언에 따라 백주대낮에 왕궁에 텐트를 쳐놓고 다윗의 후궁 10명과 간음행각을 벌였다는 소식을 들어야 했다.
결국 다윗은 한 명의 충성스러운 부하 우리아를 잃은 대신에, 자신의 충성스러운 부하 4명을 모두 다 잃었던 것이다.
이와같이 다윗의 고난은 첫 번째와 두 번째 고난의 내용이 다르다.
시119:67(고난 당하기 전에는 내가 그릇 행하였더니 이제는 주의 말씀을 지키나이다)
홍수나 태풍 때문에 재산 피해도 많고 인명 피해도 많지만 홍수나 태풍도 필요하다.
홍수로 강물을 밑바닥까지 확 뒤집어놓아야 물고기도 살고 강물도 신선해진다.
태풍으로 바다를 뒤흔들어 놓아야 바다의 생물이 잘 살 수가 있지 그렇지 않으면 물도 썩고 바다의 생물도 살 수가 없다.
새는 바람 부는 날 집을 짓는다고 합니다. 좋은 날씨에 집을 지으면 나뭇가지를 물어 날기도 쉬운데 왜 바람이 거센 날 집을 지을까요? 그것은 태풍에도 견딜 수 있는 집을 짓기 위해서입니다. 태풍 속에서도 알을 보호하기 위함입니다.
병든 소의 몸에서 우황이 만들어 지고, 병든 고래의 몸에서 가장 좋은 향수의 자료가 추출이 됩니다. 발명왕 에디슨은 전구를 만드는데 605번의 실패를 거듭합니다. 그리고 606번째 성공합니다.
고난은
1. 죄로 인한 고난이 있습니다. 이것은 사람이 잘못해서 얻은 고난입니다. 자기가 잘못해서 받는 고난입니다. 예를 들어서 술담배를 하지 말라고 했는데 그것을 어기고 술 담배를 엄청 했다, 그래서 병을 얻었다. 이것은 누구의 잘못입니까? 자기관리를 하지 못한 당사자의 잘못입니다. 결과가 있으면 원인이 있는 것입니다.
2. 교육적인 고난이 있습니다.
이것은 사람으로 하여금 가르치기 위한 고난입니다. 사람은 교만한 존재이기 때문에 고난과 시련이 없으면 겸손해지지 않습니다. 그래서 고난과 연단을 통해서 사람이 되어져 가는 것입니다. 벼는 익을수록 머리를 숙이는 법입니다. 고난과 연단 속에서 사람들은 머리를 숙이는 법을 배우게 되는 것입니다.
71고난 당한 것이 내게 유익이라 이로 인하여 내가 주의 율례를 배우게 되었나이다
야고보서 1:2-4“내 형제들아. 너희가 여러 가지 시험을 당하거든 온전히 기쁘게 여기라. 이는 너희 믿음의 시련이 인내를 만들어 내는 줄 너희가 앎이라. 인내를 온전히 이루라. 이는 너희로 온전하고 구비하여 조금도 부족함이 없게 하려 함이라.”
‘근육이 만들어지기 위해서는 반드시 고통이 따라야 하는구나.’(근육통)
어린아이가 성인으로 성장하기 위해서는 성장통이 뒤따라야 한다.
고난을 당할 때/인생과 삶에 벽에 부딪칠 때
낙심하거나 좌절, 절망, 원망,불평하지 말라
감사하라, 기뻐하라, = 이일을 통하여 나에게 무엇을 주시려 나이까?
엡4:13(우리가 다 하나님의 아들을 믿는 것과 아는 일에 하나가 되어 온전한 사람을 이루어 그리스도의 장성한 분량이 충만한데까지 이르리니 14이는 우리가 이제부터 어린 아이가 되지 아니하여 사람의 궤술과 간사한 유혹에 빠져 모든 교훈의 풍조에 밀려 요동치 않게 하려 함이라)
하나님을 아는 길은 고난을 통하여 알게하시고 깨닫게 하시는 은혜의 선물이다.
The Benefit of Affliction (Psalm 119:67-72)
The book of Psalms describes the afflictions of David. Though afflictions may seem similar, their nature can be different. The first affliction and the second affliction were distinct.
The First Affliction
David faced affliction after he defeated Goliath, the Philistine. King Saul had promised rewards to the one who would defeat Goliath.
1 Samuel 17:25 – "The king will give great wealth to the man who kills him. He will also give him his daughter in marriage and will exempt his family from taxes in Israel."
- Goliath's height (six cubits and a span) = 290 cm (9 feet 6 inches)
- His armor (5,000 shekels of bronze) = 57 kg (125 lbs)
1 Samuel 18:7-8 – "As they danced, they sang: 'Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands.' Saul was very angry; this refrain displeased him greatly."
- An evil spirit tormented King Saul, and he tried to kill David by throwing a spear at him.
- David favored Saul's second daughter, Michal, so Saul demanded 100 Philistine foreskins as a bride price.
- Though David, at 20 years old, had won against Goliath and became a commander and Saul's son-in-law, he spent the next 10 years fleeing from Saul (hiding in 17 different locations).
1 Peter 2:20 – "But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps."
The Second Affliction
David's second affliction occurred after he became king. While at war with the Ammonites, he saw Bathsheba bathing at night and committed adultery with her, leading to pregnancy.
Bathsheba's husband, Uriah, was a commander in the army, fighting in battle. To cover up his sin, David summoned Uriah to the palace and offered him food and drink, encouraging him to go home to his wife. However, Uriah refused and remained in Jerusalem.
David then conspired to have Uriah killed in battle by placing him at the front lines where he would be struck down.
As a result of his sin:
- The first son born to Bathsheba died a few days after birth.
- His firstborn son, Amnon, was murdered by his third son, Absalom.
- Absalom, whom David trusted, was later killed by his most loyal general, Joab.
- Adonijah, his fourth son and a strong successor, was executed by Benaiah under Solomon’s command.
Additionally, as a punishment for his adultery, David's own children committed sexual immorality:
- Amnon raped his half-sister Tamar (Absalom’s sister), which led Absalom to later kill him.
- After Absalom usurped the throne, he publicly defiled David’s concubines in broad daylight on the advice of Ahithophel.
David lost a single loyal soldier, Uriah, but in return, he lost four of his own faithful men.
This shows that David’s first and second afflictions were very different in nature.
Psalm 119:67 – "Before I was afflicted, I went astray, but now I obey your word."
The Purpose of Affliction
Though floods and typhoons cause great damage, they are necessary.
- Floods cleanse the riverbed, ensuring the survival of fish and refreshing the water.
- Typhoons stir the ocean, preventing stagnation and sustaining marine life.
A bird builds its nest on a windy day, not on a calm day.

Why? Because a nest built on a windy day is strong enough to withstand storms, ensuring the protection of its eggs.

Medicine (Bezoar) comes from sick cows.

The finest perfume ingredients are extracted from sick whales.

Thomas Edison failed 605 times before succeeding in inventing the light bulb on his 606th attempt.
Types of Affliction

Affliction Due to Sin
- This results from a person’s own wrongdoing.
- If someone excessively smokes or drinks despite warnings and develops an illness, it is the consequence of their own choices.

Affliction for Growth
- This affliction is meant to teach and discipline.
- Humans are naturally prideful, but trials and hardships cultivate humility.
- Just as a ripened grain bows its head, people learn humility through affliction.
Psalm 119:71 – "It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees."
James 1:2-4 – "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
- To build muscle, pain (muscle soreness) is necessary.
- For a child to grow into an adult, growing pains must be endured.
When You Face Trials
When you encounter hardships and obstacles in life, do not despair, complain, or become discouraged.
Instead, be thankful and joyful. Ask yourself:
"What is God trying to teach me through this?"
Ephesians 4:13-14 – "Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming."
The way to know God often comes through affliction, which He allows as a gift of grace.
